SAFETY: Domestic Violence Court Advocacy
Western Sydney Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service can help women experiencing domestic violence to gain access to legal advice, support, information and a safe room to sit in. This service is free and staff attend Penrith Local Court every Tuesday to assist women with ADVO matters.
Why a Court Advocacy Service?
To assist women seeking an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order to gain legal representation.
To familiarise women with the court process, layout and personnel.
To look at the full facts of the complaint and related matters so that conditions appropriate to a woman’s particular circumstances are sought.
To make referrals on all necessary social needs including income security, housing, counselling and support.
To assist with as far as possible, safety whilst in the precinct of the court.
A referral contact point for the Nepean Police Area Command, where safety assessment and support options are discussed with women following a domestic violence incident.
