Safety: Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders

An Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) is a court order that can protect a person from violence or threats of violence. ADVOs are mostly used in domestic violence cases.

There are two ways to apply for an order:

  1. A police officer can make a complaint on a person’s behalf, or

  2. A complaint can be made directly to a Chamber Registrar.
